Our 2007 Organic Manxi Mountain Raw Pu’er Cake uses sun-dried Shaiqinmao tea leaves (Yunnan big-leaf variety) from ancient tea trees grown on the organic tea plantations of the Manxi Mountain area. It is produced by Fuhai Tea Factory in Menghai County, Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.
The Manxi Mountain area is located at the Sino-Burmese border in the district of Daluo Town, Menghai County. It features a large group of very old large-leaf tea trees, planted by the Blang people over 500 years ago. The plantation belongs to Fuhai Tea Factory. It was awarded ‘organic’ status in 2007.
The taste of this Manxi Mountain organic Pu’er raw cake is mellow and powerful with a very smooth mouthfeel. The aroma is very striking. Mild and pleasant bitterness at the first sip transforms into an impressive, long-lasting, sweet aftertaste within 20-30 seconds. What is 7542?
7542 is its serial number. The serial number of Pu-erh cakes has a special meaning. The first two numbers refer to the tea formula used. The third number refers to the grade of tea material used – the smaller the better. The last number indicates a particular tea factory.
Therefore, for this tea cake, the ‘75’ means the formula of the tea cake was developed in 1975 year. ‘4’ means the grade of the tea leaves is level ‘4’ and ‘2’ means it is produced by the Menghai Tea Factory.
Pu-erh made from more delicate tea materials would taste fresher because it is rich in amino acids, and the best Pu-erh is rich in health-supporting substances and strong in flavour. However, it is important to know that Pu-erh made from higher grades of tea is not necessarily the better or more expensive. Pu-erh made from lower-grade tea materials could also have a very aggressive aroma which is attractive to many tea lovers. The aroma of Pu-erh would get stronger when it is aged. When aged, lower-grade of Pu-erh can taste much better than the new and high-grade Pu-erh, and of course, aged Pu-erh will normally be more expensive.

White Peony is one of the most famous Chinese white teas. It is mainly produced in Fujian province and is made using a single bud and two leaves. Picking time is around Pure Brightness. It is less scarce and expensive than White Needle.
The tea leaves are corrugated, the edges slightly jagged. The backs of the leaves are covered with white fuzz. During brewing, the green leaves open up to reveal the delicate buds like blooming peonies.

Silver Needle White Tea is a well-known Chinese white tea, but very expensive due to a very small yield. It is produced in Fujian province in China, using the most delicate buds picked when the very first tea leaves are appearing in the spring. Only the buds are used – no leaves or stem at all.
The Silver Needle White Tea bud is large，strong and fat. It is long and straight and covered in a pale, silvery-white fuzz resembling a white coat. The tea tastes very fresh and light, with a hint of fresh smoke and fruit and an aroma of wildflowers combined with a hint of honey. It has a long-lasting, sweet aftertaste.
Picking methods are complex, even for an extremely experienced tea worker. A day’s yield will not exceed 50kg.

Within the white tea family, this tea is a relatively aged one because it contains a large amount of mature tea leaves. It is plucked after the pick of White Peony tea and the White Hair Silver Needle tea. If Longjing and Biluochun are the taste of early spring, then Lu’an Guapian, picked during the Grain Rain, is the taste of late springtime. It tastes very fresh, with a mellow and sweet aftertaste and a light chestnut aroma. Its sweet flavor can linger in the mouth and throat for a very long time, evoking a strong nostalgia for the end of spring.
Lu’an Guapian is produced in Yu’an district, Lu’an City, and in the Qitou Mountain area and the adjacent Jinzhai and Huoshan Villages in the Dabie Mountains. While other green teas use both leaves and buds, Lu’an Guapian is the only tea in the world that uses only leaves, with no stem or bud. The leaves are flat and have a narrow oval shape, like a melon seed.
In July 1971, a quantity of Lu’an Guapian was given as a national gift to the US Secretary of State.

The premium tea is produced on a particular tea plantation – Tongmuguan – which is considered the best for growing Golden Eyebrow. It is highly recommended for those with a keen eye for quality.
Both our Premium Golden Eyebrow and standard Golden Eyebrow black tea are expensive is because the whole production process must be carried out by hand. Every 500g of Golden Eyebrow contains tens of thousands of very fresh tea buds, without any leaves. These buds are picked from trees in Wuyishan Nature Reserve. This black tea is produced by Zheng Shan Tang. Tea is picked from Wuyi Mountain National Nature Reserve where the sea level is around 800 to 1500 meters. Those tea trees are scattered along the riverbanks or in the deep hollow of the hills. The tea has one bud with two leaves, picked once a year.
The special part of this tea is its delicate lychee taste. To fully reflect the sweet nature of this tea, Zheng Shan Tang named it after a Tang dynasty poem that described ‘A steed which raised red dust won the fair mistress’ smiles. How many steeds which brought her lychee died on the run!’.

Compared with Golden Horse Eyebrow (Jin Jun Mei) whose raw material is only tea buds, Yin Jun Mei is made by one tea bud with one tea leaf, which makes its taste and quality are inferior to Jin Jun Mei. However, the price of it is also cheaper than Jin Jun Mei which makes it affordable for daily consumption.

This special wild black tea belongs to one of the characteristic local teas. It is produced in Badong County, Enshi, Hubei province. It is in the upper reaches of Shennong River which is a well-known scenic spot, where is also the core area of Hubei Badong Golden Monkey National Natural Reserve. The place is called ‘Xiao Shennongjia’. It is knowns as the World Museum of Nature and is included in the protection list of World Heritage Sites.

Why is it called Bense? The taste of Lapsang Souchong is reduced and mellow, but it is not too strong pine smoke. The slightly smoky flavour and sweet soup feel are acceptable to most people. So name it “True Colour”(Bense).
