About 2015 Heroes of War Fu Dark Tea Brick 380g

Fu Brick stands out among dark teas due to its unique beneficial enzyme bacteria called 'Eurotium Cristatum', commonly referred to as 'Golden Flower'.

This Golden Flower produces amylase and oxidase enzymes that catalyse the conversion of protein and starch into monosaccharides. It also catalyses the oxidation of polyphenol compounds, transforming them into substances that support human wellbeing. This process not only enhances the tea's health properties but also elevates its flavour profile and overall quality.

Our Heroes of War Fu Dark Tea Brick is made by ChinaTea Hunan Anhua No.1 Tea Factory, honourably produced by COFCO Group.

Important health information: This tea is not recommended for everyone. You should avoid consuming Fu Dark Tea if you are currently experiencing fever, or have been diagnosed with liver conditions, neurasthenia, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, ulcers, or urinary stones. Appearance & Taste

2015 Heroes of War Fu Dark Tea Brick 380g

This dark tea is formed into a rectangular brick shape through a traditional multi-stage production process. Starting with raw dark green tea leaves, the tea undergoes fixation (kill-green), followed by rolling, piling, a second rolling, drying, screening, blending, steaming, and finally compression into its brick form.

When brewed, you’ll experience a mellow, sweet flavour profile with an aftertaste that lingers beautifully. The liquor is exceptionally smooth with a brilliant amber hue—clean and bright red in appearance.

Taste: Chen, Sweet, Woody

For Gongfu Style: (Recommend using (Yixing) Clay Teapot and Gaiwan)

  • Warm the Gaiwan/tiny teapot with hot water; discard the water afterwards
  • Add 1g Dark tea for every 50ml of water (recommend 5g tea leaves, adjust by personal taste)
  • Pour hot water (100 °C) into the clay teapot / Gaiwan, tilt it, slowly rotate it two times, and quickly discard the water (this step is for waking up tea leaves and stimulating the special aroma of the Dark tea)
  • Refill clay teapot/Gaiwan with hot water
  • Infuse tea for around 10s – 15s for the first brew, extending extra 10s-20s infusion time for the following brew.
  • Pour the steeped tea into a serving cup and divided it into small teacups and serve
  • Repeat 8-15 times depending on personal taste.

Using Teapot to Boil the tea (Recommend using a clay teapot)

  • Add 10-15g tea leaves (for 6-8 people, adjust by personal taste) into the clay teapot.
  • Fill the teapot with hot water.
  • Infuse tea for a while and then discard the water.
  • Add cold water.
  • Keep brewing for 1 min after the water is boiling and try the first round of the tea. For further brews, extend the boiling time to around 2-3 minutes.
  • After the tea is boiled, simmer on the charcoal fire to get a better taste

The amber colour caught my eye first, then that smooth mellow flavour just rolled over my palate. There’s something about the way it lingers that feels almost meditative. I found myself brewing a second pot immediately.

My first few steeps (gongfu) it mostly tasted like a cheap ripe pu’er (I like ripe pu’er, but at that time I was disappointed that it wasn’t more different), but with more steeps that faded and an almost “cool” flavour came through. I am guessing this is the special Fu flavour from the golden flowers.it was very pleasant and quite refreshing.
I recommend if you try it and don’t like it, give it a thorough “wash” steeping first and then try.

The amber colour is stunning, almost glowing when held up to light. Taste is earthy and mellow with a sweetness that builds. There’s a depth here that feels grounding, like sitting under old trees. The smoothness surprised me given how dark it looks.
