About Yunnan Early Spring Single Bud Black Tea

This black tea comes from the high mountains of Fengqing, the birthplace of Dianhong. The cool, misty climate and large day–night temperature shifts allow the Yunnan large-leaf varietal to develop rich early-spring nutrients. Only the first flush single buds—plump, golden-tipped, and naturally scarce—are used.

Gently fermented and slow-baked at low temperature, the tea retains the young buds’ clear sweetness and light honeyed florals, while delivering the classic Yunnan notes of caramel sweetness, fruit-honey aroma, and bright orange-red liquor. The taste is smooth, rounded, and sweet, with a soft honeyed finish.

Best brewed at 85–90°C to highlight its delicate sweetness and refined texture.

Appearance & Taste

Yunnan Early Spring Single Bud Black Tea

The dry buds are thin, tight, and fine, coated with golden down and carrying light honey and caramel aroma. The liquor is bright orange-red and crystal clear, reminiscent of amber. The taste is full yet gentle, beginning with caramelised sweetness and ripe-fruit notes before transitioning into soft honeyed florals. The aftertaste is sweet, clean, and persistent.

Taste: Caramel, Floral, Fruity, Honey, Jujube, Sweet, Sweet Potato

Origin

Yunnan

Fengqing County in northern Lincang sits at around 1,800 metres elevation and is known as the “hometown of Dianhong.” Strong mountain sunshine, long-lasting mist, and large temperature variation help the buds accumulate aroma compounds and sweetness. The local red soil, rich in iron, zinc, and selenium, lends natural sweetness and depth to the tea. The cool high-mountain environment creates the distinctive high-mountain honey aroma and pure, clean character of Fengqing black tea.

Picking & Production

Picking Tea

This tea is picked exclusively as early spring single buds, typically from mid-March to before Qingming. All processing is completed on the same day by hand.

Fresh buds are naturally withered for over ten hours until soft and aromatic, then gently rolled to lightly release tea juices and expose the golden tips.

Fermentation is controlled in a temperature- and humidity-regulated environment for about five hours, followed by low-temperature slow baking at around 90°C to lock in aroma and create a smooth, delicate liquor.
