Design Highlights

  • Refined Patina Finish: High-temperature patina treatment gives the copper a deep, aged bronze tone. Over time, it will develop a unique patina, enhancing its character and beauty.
  • Hand-Hammered Texture: The surface is skillfully hammered by artisans, creating a fine and uniform pattern that accentuates the interplay of light while also improving heat dissipation.
Flat-Shoulder Form: The rounded yet structured body, complemented by a gently extended flat shoulder, enhances its stability and lends a composed, elegant presence to any tea setting.
Efficient Copper Heat Conduction: Copper’s superior heat conductivity ensures even and rapid heating, resulting in more stable water temperature and a refined, smoother tea infusion.
Jade Knob Accent: The lid is adorned with a smooth jade knob, contrasting beautifully with the metallic sheen of the copper, adding an exquisite and sophisticated touch.

This Flat-Shoulder Fired Copper Kettle seamlessly blends traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics. More than just a functional tea-brewing tool, it is a piece of collectible artistry. Whether used in a tea ceremony or admired as a decorative piece, it elevates the ambiance of any setting, turning every water-boiling moment into a ritual of elegance and refinement.

Please Note: As this kettle is entirely handcrafted, minor imperfections such as oxidation marks and fine scratches may be present. These are natural characteristics of artisanal copperware and contribute to its unique charm. Your understanding is appreciated.

Description

Method for Seasoning a Copper Kettle:

  1. Waking the Kettle: Fill the kettle with cold water and bring it to a boil. Discard the water and repeat twice. Then, pour in rice-washed water, bring it to a boil, and discard it. Repeat twice. Wipe the kettle with a damp tea cloth. Finally, fill it with cold water, bring it to a boil, discard the water, and repeat twice.
  2. Tempering the Kettle: Through a short dry-burn process (about 10 seconds), the copper kettle is further refined and purified. The body of the kettle will change color. Pour in a small amount of tea water and swirl it around to remove impurities. (Use an open flame, separate the body and lid. Rotate the kettle body evenly while dry-burning for about 10 seconds or until the body turns yellow. Avoid excessive burning, as it may turn black.)
  3. Soaking: Add 5-8g of black tea into the copper kettle, bring the tea water to a boil over low heat, and continue boiling for another 10 minutes before discarding the water.
  4. Drying: Remove the lid and let the residual heat dry the kettle. During daily use, the kettle will develop a natural patina, and the boiled water will become softer and sweeter.

Maintenance:

  1. Store the copper kettle in a dry, well-ventilated place and avoid direct contact with acidic substances. Over time, the inner wall of pure copper kettles will turn black due to oxidation, which is a natural characteristic of copper and does not affect its use.
  2. After use, wipe the kettle dry. If it will not be used for more than four days, store it in a dry place.
  3. Avoid dry burning. Excessive heat or prolonged exposure will cause the surface color to fade and may damage the heat-resistant rope on the handle.
  4. To restore the color of the interior, apply vinegar (or lemon juice) mixed with salt and scrub with a scouring pad. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. However, since the exterior has been pre-oxidized, this method is not recommended for the outer surface.

Characteristics of Copper Kettles:

  • Antibacterial and Sterilizing: Water stored in a copper kettle remains fresh and does not spoil easily over several days.
  • Sweeter Boiled Water: Water boiled in a copper kettle becomes mildly alkaline, resulting in a softer and sweeter taste.
  • Richer Tea Flavor: Copper kettles conduct heat quickly, reaching higher temperatures, which releases copper elements that enhance the richness and aroma of tea.
  • Darkened Inner Wall: The black layer inside the kettle is formed due to oxidation from heating, a natural characteristic of pure copper.
