About Anxi Oriental Beauty Oolong

This daily-drink Oriental Beauty Oolong comes from Anxi, Fujian, using the Qingxin Oolong cultivar grown at 800 to 1000 meters. The tea follows Taiwan’s Baihao Oolong craft, introduced to Anxi in the late 20th century and developed into a unique local style.

During the warm season, the small green leafhopper lightly bites the tender leaves, creating natural honeyed and fruity notes. After hand-picking, the leaves are sun-withered, moderately oxidized and slowly low-roasted, giving the tea its golden and reddish tones with soft, layered aromas.

Appearance & Taste

Anxi Oriental Beauty Oolong

The dry leaves are tightly rolled with dark-brown tones and visible white tips. When brewed, they open softly and produce a clear golden-orange liquor. The aroma shows honey and floral notes with gentle fruit sweetness. The taste is smooth and naturally sweet, with early honey fragrance, light floral lift, and a clean finish of soft ripe fruit and honey.

Use 6 to 8 grams of tea in a 120 ml gaiwan with 90 to 95°C water. Quickly rinse once, then brew the next infusions for about 10 to 15 seconds each, extending time gradually. The liquor becomes amber-gold with honey-sweet and soft floral-fruit aromas.

Origin

Wuyi Mountain

This tea comes from Anxi’s high-mountain gardens at 800 to 1000 meters, where misty, cool and humid conditions help develop rich aroma and natural sweetness. Slow-grown high-mountain leaves contain more amino acids and sugars, giving the liquor a soft, silky texture with honeyed and fruity notes. With moderate oxidation and refined roasting, the tea shows clear aromatic layers and the elegant character of Oriental Beauty.

Picking and Production

Picking Tea

Harvested between Grain Rain and early Summer, this Qingxin Oolong grows in Anxi’s misty mountains, where some tender leaves are lightly nibbled by the small green leafhopper, giving the tea its honeyed and fruity character. Hand-picked one bud with two or three leaves, the fresh leaves are sun-withered, then rested at low temperature and lightly shaken to release grassy notes and develop floral-honey aromas. Oxidized to about fifty percent and finished with gentle low-temperature roasting, the tea forms tightly curled leaves with golden and reddish hues and a bright golden-orange liquor that tastes smooth, sweet and softly floral with honey-fruit notes.
