This Changqing tea tray is crafted from vintage tin, presenting a calm, weighty character with a restrained, rustic feel. The body is cast and then hand-hammered, resulting in a solid, well-balanced form typical of traditional metal tea ware.
The surface is decorated with ginkgo leaves and cranes, symbolising longevity, resilience, and enduring vitality. The design is understated, with ample negative space that complements the quiet nature of the tin.
The tin surface is polished and antiqued, retaining its natural metal grain. Minor fine marks along the interior and edges are normal traces of hand finishing and add to the piece’s sense of age and warmth.
With gently contoured edges and a stable profile, the tray securely supports teapots, gaiwans, or fairness cups while collecting excess tea during brewing. Stable and odour-resistant, the vintage tin does not affect tea flavour, making this tray both practical and visually refined.
