Situated on the south-east coast of China, Fujian is one of the most sought-after places when it comes to both quality and variety of tea production. As far as its geographical conditions are concerned, Fujian holds a sub-tropical climate with a scattered rainfall all over the year, majorly in summer. It mainly consists of a mountainous region with heavy forest cover of about 63%.
Fujian is popular for its oolong tea all across the world. In addition to oolong tea, multiple other types of tea originated in Fujian and continue to do so till date.
Anxi county in the south and Wuyi mountains in the north within Fujian are the highest producers of oolong tea. Wuyi is situated quite close to Jiangxi province which is another important state as far as tea production is concerned.
Speaking of Wuyi, it is pretty famous for its black tea as well while Anxi is known for tie guan yin in addition to the wide varieties of se chung oolong.
White tea found its way into the world through Fujian which leads the supply of white tea across the globe. The northeast coastal areas in Fuding and Zhenghe counties are major producers of white tea.
